The Mochrum Artist is a textural creator living and working within the rural plains of the breathtakingly beautiful Scottish Machars
“Born and raised in the mill town of Burnley and descended from a long line of weavers, textural handicraft and industrial creativity has always been a significant part of my heritage. Although I enjoy all elements of textural creation, my specialised medium is knitting.
By uniting a contemporary twist with an age-old skill, many of my pieces incorporate knitted strips of organza, silks, tweeds and yarns, meticulously embellished with shells, driftwood, glass, pearls and semi-precious stones.
Heavily inspired by the rocks, sea, flora and fauna of my rural Galloway surroundings, the message I aim to convey is the aesthetically spiritual dynamism of texture, depth and organic purity.
I also take great delight in bringing nostalgia to life by transforming wedding dresses, baby blankets and christening robes into beautifully personalised commissioned designs.”
